A soft place to land

"A soft place to land" is a collection of printed and handwoven fabrics, designed for the home, that bring a sense of comfort and calm. Each motif – Magnolia stellata blooms, the fruit of a crab apple tree, and pollinator bees – is found in the vicinity of three campus buildings that mean the most to me. I designed four coordinating patterns and three complementary handwoven pillows that are inspired by this campus that comforts me. Together, these textiles offer a soft, comfortable space that represents my undergraduate experience. Between countless hours spent at the studio and friends that have become family, Madison has been a place of both growth and stability. After four years here, this campus is more than my home; it’s my soft place to land.
